Sprucing Up Your Home For Summer!
With summer right around the corner, we could not be more excited! This means barbecues, pool parties, and outdoor celebrations are on the horizon. The only downfall to summer is that it just goes so fast, and no one wants to spend that time doing housework. To ensure you get to soak up every ounce of summer, getting your home prepared ahead of time is a great start. We have compiled a list of to dos to not only get your house in check, but also get you in the summertime spirit.
Closet Cleanout: With the warm weather coming in, it’s a great time to switch out your parkas and hoodies for sundresses and shorts. Keep a couple warmer items out for those cool summer nights, but store everything else to keep your closet clean and organized. Packing up your cold weather clothes in storage bins or clothing organizers will save you a lot of time come fall.
Prepping Your Grill: Unless your grill has never been used before, chances are, there is built up grease, char, and food remnants lingering from last season. Taking the time to clean your grill now will save you a lot of hassle later when you’re planning your backyard barbeque.
Switching Out Your Soap: No, seriously. This may seem bizarre and frivolous, but adding a summery scent to your home is a step in the right direction. Even adding candles or air freshener that give off a summer vibe will have you ready for sunshine and palm trees.
Air Conditioner Maintenance: When was the last time you changed your air filters? Well if your answer is greater than 90 days, it’s definitely time! You should change your air filters out at least once every 90 days, but if you have pets, depending on how many, you may need to change them every 30-60 days. Replacing your dirty filters prevents fires and enhances the efficiency of your air conditioner, keeping your home cooler throughout the season.
Window Wash Down: Winter takes a toll on your windows’ clarity, and giving them a nice scrub down is the perfect way to keep them clean and clear for the upcoming season. Snow and sleet leave residue on the exteriors, and fireplaces can displace soot on the interiors, so remember to wash both sides. *TIP: Clean your windows on a cloudy day to avoid the sun drying your cleaning products on the window prematurely and causing streaks.
Dust Off The Fans: As the days get warm, your ceiling fans will be in constant use. Dust particles settle and build up on your fan blades, and the first time you use them, it’ll all come raining down. Give them a good dusting at the beginning of the season, and a quick wipe every once in a while to maintain.
